The LG G2 has come with a lot of hype, taking on the likes of the Galaxy S4 and the HTC One it has a lot to live up to.

The LG G2 is the brand’s biggest attack yet on the flagship Android smartphones that have, until now, remained the main point of call for customers not looking to buy an iPhone 5s.

For those customers the choices have been mightily impressive, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is certainly one of the best smartphones ever made while the HTC One has become a critic’s favourite by rivaling Apple in build quality.

To say LG is the new kid on the block then would be hugely unfair – the brand developed the first dual-core smartphone and was responsible for launching the first 3D phone. So while it’s clearly been an innovator in the market it has fallen into something of a lull. Continue reading

Funky Gadget: Microsoft Surface Pro 2 officially unveiled with Windows 8.1

The Microsoft Surface Pro 2 has been designed to compete with even the fastest Ultrabooks like the Samsung Series 9 and the MacBook Retina Display.

Microsoft has unveiled the Surface Pro 2, the next incarnation of Microsoft’s Windows 8 tablet range sporting fourth-generation Intel Core i5 processors, 4 or 8GB of RAM and Windows 8.1 straight out of the box.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 2 has been designed with two key areas to improve, the performance and the battery life, so you’ll get the latest Intel i5 processor along with an increased battery performance of over 60 per cent compared to the original Surface Pro.

It also comes sporting a new 1080p Full-HD ClearType display which means significantly improved colour reproduction along with improved sensitivity for use with the Pro Pen. Continue reading

Funky Gadget: Nokia tablet to be called the Lumia 2520

Nokia will call its first tablet the Lumia 2520 according to reports.

According to EvLeaks, the tablet will be follow its smartphone brethren down the Lumia branding route.

No further details were provided beyond its name being the Nokia Lumia 2520.

Interestingly, Nokia is rumoured to be announcing a six-inch phablet in the coming weeks. It is believed to be called the Nokia Lumia 1520. The emergence of the name suggests that they will be companion devices. Continue reading

Funky Gadget: Tesco unveils the Hudl

Tesco has taken the wraps off its first tablet, the Hudl.

The tablet, which will cost £119, has been designed to help push Tesco’s range of entertainment services, such Blinkbox, as well as boost online sales of groceries.

Tesco’s Hudl comes with Android JellyBean 4.2 and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor. It has a seven-inch 16:9 high definition 1440 x 900 display with a pixel density of 243 ppi.

To compare, the iPad 4 Retina model has a resolution of 264 ppi. Continue reading
